garden update, 6/30

it was a beautiful morning in the garden!  it was just warm enough to make us sweat a little but not so hot that we were ready to pass out.  things are looking exceptionally beautiful and i can only give a big round of applause to all of the wonderful volunteers who have made it all possible.

 the zombie garden

one of the beds in the shade garden

this bed in the shade garden has many ferns and is looking so lush and full

the rose garden and gazebo

the butterfly garden

believe it or not, we cut back the butterfly bushes so that you could actually walk between the beds.  so much for that idea...

thanks to the hard work of ty ann, the old perennial garden is beginning to look like a garden again.

and since a lot of restoration has taken place, many of the plants are beginning to flower again.

over in jim's bee garden, the vitex (cut leaf chaste tree) is in full bloom and looking rather grand.

we love visitors to the garden, now if we could only get them to wear name tags...

leaf hopper on the oregano

witch's butter on a log in the herb garden

water drops on a canna leaf

another visitor on a potato leaf

vitex blossoms are a favorite with bumble bees

love in the mist in bloom

and the seed pods-be warned, love in the mist is a prolific seeder that can spread quickly

blackberry lily almost ready for the close up

bumble bees also love coneflowers

so do many types of bees
