today was the first of our rain garden/barrel workshops. mikayle from cumberland river compact came out and gave us a great presentation on building a rain garden and then led a workshop on making a rain barrel. while the turnout was lower than we hoped for, it still went very well and we look forward to the next workshop on april 28.
mikayle telling the participants about the history of the cumberland river compact and the importance of rain gardens.
we went outside and listened to fellow dcmg member caroll as she spoke of the many different aspects of planting your rain garden. from figuring out the appropriate plants to creating a list of tasks to keep up with it all-caroll covered everything and i was truly impressed by this so called newbie!
