6/5 baby it's hot out there...

here it is, less than two weeks until the big field day event!  we have been hard at work in the garden and are close to completing most of the additions.  saturday, 6/11 is our big work day starting at 9am until ??? with a pot luck lunch (burgers/hot dogs provided-you bring salads or desserts.)  we hope you will join us and help us finish the garden for field day.

the new raised beds for the junior master gardeners.

the beans are getting bigger by the day

new enabling beds filled with peppers, tomatoes and eggplants

new butterfly bushes will attract them by the thousands

the memorial garden has finally found a permanent location and it will look beautiful once the plants recover from this heatwave!

next to the herb garden is our new outdoor classroom.  david is assembling a new mini herb garden

the herb garden was painted and now anne is filling it with dirt for the plants.

pam used a bucket with a pour spout to fill the cells of the blocks-they will hold herbs and flowers too.

*
on the old satellite dish platform, david and pam assembled a block wall garden.

*
each cell is sealed on the bottom and filled with soil.  pam is planting portulaca (moss rose) in each cell.

ta dah!!!  see how easy it is to build an attractive garden in a small space!!!

on our way home, we saw some special visitors to the ag center-the budweiser clydesdales are bunking with the mounted police horses while they are in town for the big cma fest.

that's quite an operation for 8 horses!

during the week, i stopped by the garden to check on plants and found another special guest
isn't she cute?  she followed me everywhere
and went for a climb too
